If you look at the number of center consoles boats built each year, it's astounding. Between 1995 and 2006, more than 300,000 center console models were built between 17 and 34 feet. That's a lot of boats! But when you think about how versatile a center console design is, either for a primary or secondary boat, it's not surprising.

BRIDGING THE GAP - SEA RAY’S 36 SEDAN BRIDGEMarch 27, 2007 - 6:49pm — George Sass Jr.
It wasn’t difficult to find the new Sea Ray 36 Sedan Bridge rising above her express styled siblings at New York’s Chelsea Piers for a MarineMax/Surfside 3 demonstration day. An under 40-foot bridge model is not new territory for Sea Ray, although today the company’s bread and butter is with their Sundancer or express cruiser line. Therefore a new Sedan Bridge offering received more than marginal interest from the marketplace.
BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Carver 42 Super SportJanuary 7, 2007 - 8:00am — George Sass Jr.
If you want to make yourself feel old, go to your bookshelf and pick out an older boating magazine. No, you don't have to go way back to a vintage issue. Something in the late 80s will work fine for this anthropology exercise. If you don't have a collection of nautical magazines, then something is wrong with you and I suggest you purchase several stacks at a tag sale. They make for great reading. Headline News: Sea Ray 38 SundancerJanuary 7, 2007 - 8:00am — Louisa Beckett
Size has its privileges. Like a major automobile manufacturer, Sea Ray builds enough boats (approximately 15,000 per year) to justify frequently updating its entire model line, incorporating the latest trends in technology and design. That way, its customers always feel like they are getting something fresh and new, which keeps them coming back for more. BIGGER BY DESIGN: The Carver 33January 7, 2007 - 8:00am — George Sass Jr.
It wasn't until about five years ago or so that I really started to pay attention to Carver Yachts. I had looked at a few used models to purchase for my own enjoyment, but that is where the familiarity ended. However, as a senior editor, of a national boating magazine, I was assigned Carver as part of my beat list. Hey some journalists are assigned the police beat, I was assigned one of the leading boatbuilders in the country.Yes, it's a tough gig I know.
Take a Ride on The Wild Side: Zodiac CZ7January 7, 2007 - 8:00am — Gary Joyce
The three-day course was culminating with a competition. Three-man boat crews would have to run to the boat, fire it up, race out to and negotiate a slalom course, find and recover a person in the water, race back through the slalom to the dock and run a short distance to the finish line. Pursuit of Perfection: Pursuit Drummond Island 34January 7, 2007 - 8:00am — Dennis Caprio
Pursuit got the Drummond Runner 3480 exactly right. Its stylish and built to very high standards. Its fast, seakindly, reasonably economical to operate, and priced to match its quality. These are bold statements to be sure, and whether or not you agree with them depends on what you want from a boat. |
